PageRank is a Big Deal
Google released a PageRank eigenvalue algorithm and everyone loved it. It was a big deal. However, it is now an SEO myth. What? Google has come out with several major algorithm updates – Caffeine, Panda, Penguin, Pigeon, Rankbrain. These have changed the way Google searches work — obviously. So why doesn’t Google use PageRank anymore? We think the biggest reason is people learned how to manipulate it. Google wants to make the users happy. If someone Googles something and doesn’t find what they are looking for, they are not happy. They are the customers for all of us, so let’s make them happy!
Engagement is Always Good
Engagement is good… that is, true engagement is good. There are people who have farms (computer programs designed to help you get fake engagement) set up to get them this engagement. This is bad. Don’t fake it till you make it when it comes to SEO or you will get trapped. Fake reviews or followers can damage your brand and customers will know they can’t trust you. It is pretty apparent when your likes and comments are fake – Google, like Santa Clause, always knows.
You Don’t Need Content
We already know that we don’t need poor content. Small business owners often ignore the idea of content because it can be costly. You need content because it helps you as a company establish expertise. Video content is becoming more popular and will most likely take over most content over the next year.
